Human Trafficking
Townswomen's Guilds in Council assembled urges HM Government to take more action to tackle the problem of Human Traffickers in the UK who are exploiting women and committing crime against humanity.
In 2003, TG passed the above mandate. Twelve years on, the horrifying truth is that trafficking is still a serious issue in this country. Action is being taken, with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 coming into force in England and Wales in July of this year - the first of its kind throughout Europe - but as with any Act, the proof will be in how it is enforced.
This is a topic which we feel deserves another push towards the TG spotlight, to see what has changed and what is still to be done. Watch this space for more updates in 2016.
