#ShareYourSpare as NHSBT calls for living donors

Could you spare a kidney? NHSBT asks for Living Donors to #ShareYourSpare

Valentine's Day is a day of love, a day of heart - and this year, NHSBT is hoping to make it a day of kidney, too, as they call on those who can to donate their spare kidney and help those in need of a transplant.

Around 5,000 people are in need of kidney transplant across the UK and sadly some will die due to a shortage of people willing to donate after their death and during their lifetime.
A living donor can choose to donate one of their kidneys to someone they love, a friend or someone they don’t know. Over 500 people have donated a kidney during their life to someone anonymously on the National Transplant list, alongside the many thousands who have donated to a family relative or friend.

Through a new campaign, ‘Kidney-shaped love’, NHS Blood and Transplant want to raise awareness of living kidney donation.

Visit the Living Donation webpages for more information about donating a kidney during your lifetime.

Look out for the ‘Kidney-shaped love’ campaign on social media and help spread the word.
