The death of Jo Cox MP

The death of Jo Cox
Responding to the shocking news of the death of Jo Cox,
Townswomen’s Guilds have issued the following statement:
‘ TG deplores yesterday’s murder of MP Jo Cox, a woman
who campaigned tirelessly for the rights and condition of women and children
around the world. She campaigned vigorously against modern day slavery
practices and worked with Sarah Brown on the Maternal Mortality Campaign both
of which are issues that TG have also campaigned for.
Whatever the motivation of her killer, an
outstanding female voice has been silenced which in 2016 is outrageous. The
country has lost a women’s advocate, but her family have lost a cornerstone.
Our thoughts are with them at this sad time.’
