Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month

Saturday, 01 March 2025 00:00 until Monday, 31 March 2025 23:59

Ovarian cancer can be a difficult one to detect. Cervical screening won’t pick it up and many of the early symptoms such as persistant bloating, abdominal pain and changes in urinary habits are often misdiagnosed as other, less serious conditions like IBS.

Ovarian Cancer Action note that only one in ten women can name the four main symptoms of ovarian cancer. As such, they launched Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in 2005 to help raise awareness of symptoms and work towards a future where more than the current 3 in 10 women diagnosed with ovarian cancer live beyond ten years.

You can find out more about Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month at https://ovarian.org.uk/get-involved/ - the rest of the website has a wealth of information on ovarian cancer, its symptoms, treatment and other related issues, and so is an excellent resource to start with in order to learn more.
