Make your pledge

As part of our ‘In Our Hands’ campaign focusing on the climate crisis, we are planning to show our commitment to change by attending the UN Climate Change conference in Glasgow.
We’d also like to deliver the message that TG members are backing the UNs plans for change. We want the message to take the form of crafted leaves made by our great members.

To spread the message even further, and make it as accessible to all as possible, we have also created a virtual pledge form below - where you can select your pledge/s. 

You can choose to make as many pledges as you wish. You can also choose to make your pledge/s anonymous, if you'd prefer to.  

We would like you to embrace all of our pledges and make permanent changes to what you do but understand this isn't always possible. However, even if you only pledge to make one change, you will be making a positive difference.

I pledge to....

• Eat Smarter

  Reduce my weekly meat intake
  Reduce my red meat intake
  Find a vegetarian swap for my favourite meal - for example vegetarian lasagne
  Add more grains to my diet - they're surprisingly filling!
  

• Shop Smarter

  Remember my reusable shopping bags
  Consider where my food is coming from. Check labels to improve my carbon footprint
  Find out where my nearest Zero Waste store is to purchase pastas, grains and rice
  Shop locally and reduce my fuel consumption
  

• Help the bees

  Grow a bee friendly garden
  Offer sugary water to bees that are struggling
  Eat sustainable honey
  Avoid using pesticides in my garden
  

• Coffee Pods

  Recycle my coffee pods
  Try useable/refillable coffee pods
  Compost my used coffee
  

• Reusable make up wipes

  Replace my make up wipes with reusable options
  Ditch the cotton wool balls, too!
  Try making my own - find the pattern in the TG members area
  

• Grow your own

  Start small with some of my favourite veggies
  Consider planting a fruit tree - it'll be there for generations to come
  Share your excess produce with friends and neighbours to avoid waste
  

• Toys

  Consider wooden alternative to children's toys
  Purchase second-hand toys, to save them going to landfill
  Swap plastic pet toys for durable cotton and canvas alternatives
  

• Second hand purchasing

  Consider what my can donate yourself, to extend the life of your wardrobe
  Look for second hand statement pieces that I'll keep, and use, for longer
  Support your local charity shops to add new pieces to your wardrobe, whilst supporting a worthy cause
  

• Crisp packet recycling

  Keep a box in my cupboard to store up used crisp packets
  Encourages others to recycle their crisp packets, as it's not widely known
  No local drop off point? Encourage a local business to have a drop off point
  

• Household hacks

  Opt for LED light bulbs
  Avoid excess plastic waste - recycle as much as you possibly can
  Turn down my washing machine temperature and avoid overusing your tumble dryer
  Unplug unused electrical items, even on stand-by energy is being used
  Swap my cleaning products for less evasive formulas
