Operation Townswomen

Helping TG reach our 100th Anniversary and beyond.

What do we want to achieve with Operation Townswomen

Townswomen’s Guilds(TG)have a proud history of providing TG members with the opportunity to have fun, friendship, education and to be part of a force for change by campaigning on local and national issues.

A reduction in membership has meant that for a number of years we have had to use reserves to keep TG going.

Trustees have already taken action by reducing costs , these actions have resulted in a saving of £125,000 per annum and Trustees, together with members, will continue to look for further savings.

Our vision is to continue to make women’s lives better and maintain the traditions of TG while at the same time looking to the future and encouraging alternative ways to be a TG member.

For TG to continue to make women’s lives better and to reach it centenary year and beyond... We must take action if TG is not to close

Raising Awareness

Get involved in raising awareness of TG

Wear a TG Rosette when out and about Put up posters in your local shops and community spaces.

Approach your local paper about TG events and send them the Operation Townswomen Press Release.

Post on your local community Facebook page.

As you can see from these examples of things said to us by members and the general public we need to raise awareness of Townswomen’s Guilds.

To grow our organisation we need our Members to help us raise the profile of Townswomen’s Guilds.

The costs of advertisements in National or Local papers are prohibitive and not effective.

Recruiting New Members

Raising awareness of Townswomen’s Guilds is the first step towards recruiting new members but in order for more women to enjoy the benefits of Townswomen’s Guilds we need everyone to to play their part.

Sometimes its hard to know what to say when asked what Townswomen’s Guilds is all about, but a good starting point is your programme and any extra activities or clubs you run throughout the year.
