Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal to attend a Townswomen’s Guild Carol Service in Hereford

The TG are delighted to announce the attendance of Her Royal Highness for the Hereford Carol service on the 12th December.

The annual Townswomen’s Guilds (TG) carol services are to many members and observers, the highlight of the formal TG calendar. The events are usually oversubscribed with tickets at a premium. This year on the eve of the TG’s 90th year, they are as ever, greatly in demand. However with the TG Patron, Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal in attendance, the carol service in Hereford is expected to be completely sold-out in record time.

The Princes Royal has had a long relationship with TG, a national membership organisation for women, the first contact being in 1977 when TG raised funds for Save the Children, of which The Princess Royal is Patron. Having been impressed by the organisation TG were delighted that Her Royal Highness formally took on the role of TG Patron in the years that followed. A role that has seen Her Royal Highness regularly attend events and provide invaluable advice and support for the organisation.

The carol service at the magnificent Hereford Cathedral will be the second of a series of 3 services held across the country.

“With so much evidence to the benefits of singing on health and well being, it is no surprise that the carol services are popular.” Comments Jenny Rideout, National TG Chairman. “We are always excited when Her Royal Highness attends an event and with such a big year ahead of us with so many exciting developments it is wonderful to have her continued patronage”

Townswomen’s Guilds is one of the largest women’s organisations in the UK. With around 600 Guilds and 24,000 members, it is experiencing something of a renaissance through a ‘new generation’ of members, attracted by the events, friendship, crafts and campaigning on social issues offered collectively and by individual Guilds around the country.
