NHS to open clinic for young gambling addicts
It was announced today that the NHS will be opening the first in what is hoped to be a range of clinics designed to treat gambling addicts aged between 13 and 25.
The National Problem Gambling Clinic is currently based in London, and treats addicts aged 16 and above. This new clinic is part of a plan to expand availability of treatment, both in terms of locality and in addressing that there is a need for services to treat children under 16 who find themselves addicted to gambling.
Since 2015, TG has called for a ban on gambling advertisements, with one of our concerns being the impact these adverts have on younger people. That this clinic has become necessary suggests that these concerns are not unfounded, and that far more needs to be done so that children do not find themselves tempted to start gambling in the first place.

In 1983, Cindy Lauper told us that ‘Girls just want to have fun’ and we proved her right at our 80s night on 19th August.

Could Alvin Stardust teach you how to cross the road, when seen wearing a glove with a ring on the outside of it? And was a bum bag the best way to keep your valuables safe?
