Jean Watkins
Irena Sendler 1910- 2008 was a Polish social worker and wartime heroine who smuggled thousands of Jewish children out of the Warsaw Ghetto and certain death. She was captured by the Nazis but rescued by the Jewish Resistance. After the war she was politically active until the1980s and nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Norma Heigho 1915-2011, Townswoman and a pioneer with the foresight to fund raise  for a Breast Cancer Screening Unit in Southend-on-Sea, Essex.

Beryl Hales
Miss Dorothy Levitt 1882-1922, was the first British woman racing driver, held the woman's land speed record and was also the holder of the first water sped record. She wrote a book about being a woman car owner and driver to encourage women to take up motoring in the days when they would also have to know how to do roadside repairs.
