Congratulations to Cressida Dick

TG congratulates Miss Cressida Dick (pictured below) on her appointment as Head of the Metropolitan Police. Miss Dick, who will replace Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe as Commissioner of the UK's largest police force next week, was appointed by the Home Secretary in consultation with the Mayor of London, and becomes the first woman to hold the office.

As Assistant Commissioner of the Met Miss Dick was responsible for protecting London from the threat of Terrorism until 2014. Since then she has held a secret role within the Foreign Office.

The appointment means that the major roles in UK Policing and Justice are now held by women as Commissioner Dick joins the following elite:

Home Secretary - Amber Rudd

Justice Secretary and Lord Chancellor -Liz Truss

Director of Public Prosecutions - Alison Saunders

Director of the National Crime Agency - Lynne Owens

and Chair of the National Police Chief's Council - Sarah Thornton.
